New National Campaign Challenges UK Workplaces to Move 20 Minutes a Day
A new nationwide workplace movement challenge is inviting organisations across the UK to get their people moving for just 20 minutes a day.
The challenge, called 20/20 – 20 Minutes for 20 Days, has been launched in partnership with ukactive ahead of National Fitness Day on 16 September 2026, the UK’s largest annual celebration of physical activity.
The campaign arrives amid growing national focus on workplace health. Around 2.8 million working-age people in the UK are now out of work due to long-term illness; the single biggest driver of economic inactivity (Office for National Statistics). The Government’s Get Britain Working agenda has placed the role of employers in building healthier, more inclusive workplaces at the centre of efforts to turn that around. 20/20 is designed to help employers play their part, making everyday movement a simple and inclusive habit across their teams.
20/20 is built to be achievable for everyone, rather than the preserve of the already-fit. Companies of all sizes can sign their teams up for FREE, with the challenge framed around small, manageable movement under the banner #Try20. Taking part is straightforward: teams register, commit to moving for 20 minutes a day across 20 days, and track their progress together. There is no equipment, cost or minimum fitness level required. The emphasis is on consistency and momentum rather than intensity.
“Most workplace wellbeing schemes ask too much of people and end up reaching those who least need them,” said Tony Eames, Founder of Total Active Hub. “20/20 flips that. Twenty minutes a day for twenty days is something almost anyone can say yes to. With so much national focus on keeping people well enough to stay in work, employers have a real role to play in prevention and this gives any organisation a simple, inclusive place to start.”
Cameron Saunders, CEO of ukactive, said: “National Fitness Day is about showing the nation that physical activity is for everyone, regardless of age, background or experience.
“We know that workplaces can sometimes be sedentary environments, so asking employees to move for just 20 minutes a day is a simple, inclusive and achievable way to get people moving more.
“I’m delighted that people all over the country will be supported to join in the fun, thanks to Total Active Hub.”
